Abstract: In this talk I will share my experience working in IBM Research and in IBM Watson Health. I will provide some background on Diabetes and on Medical Devices for people suffering from Diabetes. I will then focus on Sugar.IQ, an IBM and Medtronic journey to improve diabetes management with retrospective and predictive insights for patients with Diabetes.
Yardena Peres manages the Innovative Solutions group of IBM Watson Health. Mrs. Peres joined IBM Research in 1992 and joined IBM Watson Health in 2015; she holds a B.A. and a M.Sc. in Computer Sciences from the Technion, Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel. Mrs. Peres was a key contributor to several Research projects funded by the EU FP6 and FP7 programs, such as EuResist (focused on HIV), HyperGenes (focused on Essential Hypertension), UniversAAL (focused on Aging Well) and DAPHNE (focused on Reducing Sedentariness). Along the years, Mrs. Peres has worked with IBM teams, clients and partners worldwide (e.g., USA, Europe, South Korea, China, Kazakhstan, Uruguay, Mexico, Australia, etc.). She is the technical leader of the IBM-Medtronic partnership, and the PO (Product Owner) of Sugar.IQ Analytics, focused on predicting Hypoglycemic events for patients with Diabetes.
